5-Wire Reverse Polarity Door Lock Systems
Applies to: All Vehicles Before connecting any wires, you must first determint the type of master door lock switch the vehicle has. There are 3 basic types of door lock systems: 3-wire negative, 3-wire positive, and 5-wire reverse polirity systems. Each system can be identified by testing the wires coming from the door lock switch and determining the polcarrity of the wires with a multimeter or voltmeter.
There are usually 5 wires coming from the switch in a 5-wire reverse polarity door lock system. The switch is grounded at rest and receives +12 volt power when in use. Refer to the item instructions for complete wiring.
